One of the most stressful parts of hiring any contractor is not knowing what is going to happen day to day. So here is the actual timeline of an RC Deck Co project, from your first phone call to the day we hand you the keys.
Week 1: Free In-Home Consultation
You call us at (610) 246-0546 or fill out the form. We schedule a free in-home consultation within a few days. We walk the backyard, measure, talk through how you actually use the space, and discuss budget honestly. No high-pressure pitch, no “today only” pricing.
Week 2: Custom 3D Design
We build a custom 3D rendering of your specific deck on your specific house. You see exactly what it will look like — board direction, railing style, stair location, the whole thing — before any contract is signed. We revise until you love it.
Week 3: Contract & Materials Order
Once the design is approved, we sign a contract that includes a fixed completion date in writing — one of our 6 written guarantees. We collect a deposit, order your Deckorators or Evalast material, and pull permits with your township. Read all 6 guarantees here.
Weeks 4–6: Permits & Lead Time
Most Main Line townships take 2–4 weeks to issue a deck permit. Material lead time is usually 2–3 weeks. We use this window to schedule your build crew and confirm your start date.
Day 1 of Build: Demo & Footings
If there is an old deck, it comes off on day one. Footings get dug to PA frost depth (minimum 36 inches), inspected by the township, and poured. We protect your lawn and clean up at the end of every day.
Days 2–4: Framing
Pressure-treated framing goes up — beams, joists, ledger board, and posts. Everything gets flashed and sealed at the house connection (this is where bad builders cause water damage; we do it right). The framing inspection happens before any decking goes on top.
Days 5–8: Decking, Railings, Stairs
The visible part — composite or PVC boards installed per manufacturer spec, picture-frame border, fascia, hidden fasteners, railings, stairs. This is the fun part. Most clients send us a picture of the deck after work each day to show their family.
Day 9: Final Inspection & Walkthrough
Township final inspection. Then we walk the deck with you — every board, every screw, every railing post. If anything is not right, we fix it before you pay the final invoice. Final walkthrough before you pay is one of our 6 written guarantees.
After the Build: Your Warranty
You get a 5-year labor warranty from RC Deck Co, plus the lifetime material warranty from Deckorators or Evalast. We are 2 years into the business with 50+ five-star reviews because we actually answer the phone after the build.
Total Project Time
From first call to final walkthrough, most projects run 6–10 weeks — most of which is permitting and material lead time, not actual construction. Build itself is typically 7–10 working days for a standard deck.
